Dr. Corine M. Visscher is a physicaltherapist and epidemiologist and holds a position as associate professor at theAcademic Centre of Dentistry Amsterdam (ACTA), the Netherlands. Her researchand clinical interests have focused on chronic pain patients and TMD diagnostics. Her latest research concerns a twin-study to the genetic aspects of the development of chronic musculoskeletal pain.
At the ACTA, she works in a multidisciplinary team, that consistsof specialized dentists, physical therapists and a psychologist. She graduated in1994 as a physical therapist at Polytechnics Amsterdam, Faculty of Healthcare,Department of Physical Therapy. In 2000, she obtained her PhD at the University of Amsterdam,the Netherlands. In 2005, she received her Master degree in epidemiology at theVU University Medical Center in Amsterdam.
Dr. Visscher published over 35 papers in national and international journals such as Pain, ClinicalJournal of Pain, European Journal of Oral Science, and Journal of OrofacialPain. She is one of the authors of the latest edition of the guidelines of theAmerican Academy of Orofacial Pain (AAOP), and is a member of the Physical Therapy Board of Craniofacial and Cervical Therapeutics (PTBCCT). In addition, she is involved in the International ConsensusWorkshop that aims to provide a revised version of the Research DiagnosticCriteria for TMD (RDCTMD).
